Solomon partnered with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) to discuss the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program for a 60-minute webinar. Since 2007, Solomon has been assisting the EPA in evaluating refinery qualifications for certification. Program participants include many top performing industry leaders. Marathon is one of the longest running participants of the ENERGY STAR Program. The webinar covered certification eligibility for US petroleum refineries, how the ENERGY STAR certification uses the Solomon’s Energy Intensity Index™ (EII®) metric as a trusted standard to certify US petroleum refineries for energy efficiency, and the benefits of certification.

Speakers:

Allan is a Sustainability Engineer at Solomon and is a member of the Sustainability and Strategic Insights group located in our Dallas office. Allan leads the ENERGY STAR program at Solomon, playing a pivotal role assisting the EPA in evaluating refinery qualifications for this certification. Allan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of North Texas.

Danny is an industrial sector manager with the US EPA’s ENERGY STAR program, a voluntary government program that works with manufacturers to increase energy efficiency and save money across their operations. Danny manages ENERGY STAR industrial plant certification and leads initiatives with several manufacturing sectors to identify best energy management practices. Danny is a Certified Energy Manager® and holds a Masters degree in Environmental Management.

Jason is the corporate Energy Technologist at Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC), based out of the St. Paul Park, Minnesota, refinery. He is responsible for managing the company’s energy efficiency program across MPC’s 13 petroleum refineries. He has experience in Commercial, Logistics, and Process Engineering in the areas of Crude/Vacuum Distillation, Naphtha Reforming, Hydrotreating, and Utilities. He has provided engineering and management support on major revamps and new process unit integrations in these areas. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and has over 20 years of experience in the refining industry along with 7 years of experience in olefins production.
